Breeders’ Cup Juvenile to Produce Early Kentucky Derby Favorite

Although only Street Sense in 2006 parlayed victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile into Roses, the winner of next Saturday’s $2 million race will be the early betting favorite for the 2015 Kentucky Derby.

There were 17 pre-entries for the Juvenile, which will be run on Saturday, November 1 at Santa Anita, with the field limited to 14 starters.

California Chrome Draws Five Post, Betting Favorite for Kentucky Derby

California Chrome, who has been the solid early betting favorite for the Kentucky Derby since his victory in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) on April 5, drew the five post and was installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby (G1).

The colt is currently listed at 11-4 in the latest Derby odds posted by Bodog, drifting up slightly from last week where the Art Sherman trainee was bet down to 7-4. Victor Espinoza rides the favorite.
