Game On Dude Early Betting Favorite for Breeders' Cup Classic

While Kentucky Derby odds watchers for 2014 will be studying the Breeders Cup Juvenile race, the biggest race of the year is the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) where Game On Dude is the early betting favorite at odds of 4-1.

The gelding was the runner up in the 2011 Classic and last year was a disappointing seventh as the betting favorite in the richest race run in the U.S.

Online racebook Bovada opened betting odds on the Classic this week and the former Derby runner is the favorite.

This year's Classic will be run at Santa Anita Park on Nov. 2, and the gelding is coming into this year's race in top form having won all five starts in 2013.

In his last start he left 11 rivals in his wake as he pulled away to win the Pacific Classic (G1) by 8 ½ lengths over the polytrack surface.

He has won three Grade 1 races and a pair of Grade 2 races this year, the combined margin of the victories coming in at 24 ¼ lengths.

The second choice in early Classic wagering is Cross Traffic, who won the Whitney Handicap (G1) at Saratoga in his last start on Aug. 3 in gate-to-wire fashion.

The Todd Pletcher trainee will make his last prep for the Classic on Saturday when he goes in the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) where he will run into Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Orb and Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Palace Malice.

Both of the Triple Crown race winners are listed by Bovada at 10-1 in early wagering for the Classic. Watch for updates at this Breeders Cup Odds site.
